Matt Cornell recently released a new single called “In This Town” along with a music video. This is the first single to be released off of his album due to be released in February 2017. His single “Feels Like Yesterday” that was released earlier in the year topped the charts. “In This Town,” written together with Allan Caswell and produced by the award winning Matt Fell, has all the makings of a chart topping single! Check out the song and video down below.
Cornell discusses the meaning behind the video on his website – “In This Town is a song about a beautiful little town, a place where everyone wants to live, where everyone’s got your back, no matter who you are, what you do, or what you look like. If you’re going through a hard time – the people will help you through it.
Wanting to capture the essence and importance of close communities, Matt shot some of the footage in his home town, Ermington. Some of the scenes were shot at his buddy Dave’s Cake Shop, at his neighbour’s place who Matt’s known for over 30 years, Castle Hill Boxing Club and at a dear friend Tom’s coffee shop, Laziza Café.” The song grew from the phrase “nobodies a nobody in this town” and speaks of every day heroes in their towns, and how everybody is important. This video brings great feelings of warmth and community through its lyrics and melodies.
Matt has taken the stage at SXSW in Austin, The Roxy in LA, and even London’s The Borderline and Sheppard’s Bush Empire. In 2014 Matt Cornell was voted CMC Music Awards New Oz Artist of the Year finalist and went on to release his album in 2014 when opening for Adam Brand’s band on tour. Matt is full of talent and excited to come out with beautifully written new songs and exquisite lyrics. He even has a few upcoming tour dates! Check them out below.
