Kristy James – Winner at ASA Awards

Just like most of us Kristy James is reflecting on the past 12 months. And for the Newcastle-based artist there’s a lot to be thankful for. With the release of 2x singles – ‘All Alone’ & ‘Friends Like You’ that both peaked at #2 on the iTunes Top Songs chart (thwarted only by current tour mates Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood), being named a Top 5 finalist in the Musicoz Australian Independent Music Awards (country category) and music video ‘All Alone’ hitting the CMC Top 50 chart, Kristy is certainly adding to her musical accolades.

The singing teacher by day also took her live shows around NSW and for the first time QLD. Whilst on holidays in Los Angeles she was a special guest of ‘Lunch With Dan Boul’ – the president of 65amps (handmade premium guitar amplifiers designed with professionals and enthusiasts in mind. 65amps are now the standard by which modern amps are now judged).

To cap off a stellar year, last night Kristy was announced as winner of the country section at the 2016 Australian Songwriters Association Awards – the country’s largest and longest running competition (over 30 years!). Kristy outclassed thousands of entries to take home the trophy and says, _”To be recognized as an artist in Australian country music on any platform is always heart-warming but to be recognised as a songwriter, which is something I work so hard at, is overwhelming, it gives me the motivation to continue to write what I write and that to me is a huge gift and just in time for Christmas”. Kristy also won the PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company Of Australia) Best Live Performance Award.

The country-rock performer plans on making 2017 just as memorable. Kristy is set to release a new single in March followed by a return to Los Angeles and first-time trip to Nashville for some long-planned writing for her 2nd EP. Another single will also drop in June followed by the EP in August. To fill out the rest of the year more concerts are planned in QLD and NSW and hopefully a first visit to Melbourne.
Kristy would like to thank everyone for their support. She wishes you all a Merry Christmas and can’t wait to chat next year
