CMA to Visit Australia!

CMA Heads to Australia

Country music has taken off in the land down under! The Country Music Association wants to strenghen ties with country music industry and will be sending a delegation to Australia to create ties to the Australian country music market. Sarah Trayhurn will be leading the delegation to Australia. The CMA delegation will include Damon Whiteside (Chief Marketing Officer), Bobbi Boyce (Director, International Media Relations) and CMA Board Member John Marks (Head of Global Country Music, Spotify).

While in the country attending CMC Rocks QLD, the CMA delegation will engage in a series of high level meetings with the Australian music and entertainment industry. These include Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), Foxtel, Nine Network, Spotify, Google, ARIA, APRA AMCOS, Sony Music Australia, Universal Music Australia, ABC Music, Tourism and Events Queensland, Tamworth City Council, and the Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA). These meetings will give all parties an opportunity to establish a contact base and identify mutually beneficial opportunities for both Australian Country Music in the USA and vice-versa.

CMA’s International Ties

The Country Music Association has always been an American-based organization with international reach. Country Music Fest, based in Nashville, TN previously included a stage devoted to international country artists. This stage lasted just a little over a decade. It is impossible to deny the effect country music has on the worldwide market.

The trip reflects the growth of international Country Music touring in Australia, and increased mainstream awareness of the genre here. The CMC Rocks QLD festival has sold out for two consecutive years, featuring US Country superstars including Jason Aldean, Dixie Chicks, and Florida Georgia Line. The past decade has seen massive arena tours from artists including Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, and more, a trend that is now reflected in other territories outside the USA.
